Music Ministry

Making Music in the Spirit of Excellence

We offer an eclectic music program at Messiah. Our groups are always ready to embrace new members. Contact Jessica Irish, Director of Music Ministries, for additional information.

Due to the pandemic, in-person rehearsals are limited to small handbell ensembles only. However, we are finding ways to make music creatively, using the wonders of technology.  You can still be safely involved with our music ministry at a distance, if you are a vocalist, instrumentalist, or liturgical dancer.

Philippians 1: 7-8    It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart, and whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

YOUTH & ADULT CHORAL ENSEMBLES (Directed by Jessica Irish)

We await what we know will be a joyous time when it is once again safe to sing in person. However, in the interim, all singers in grades 7 through adult are invited to participate in regular virtual choir offerings which are featured in our online worship services.  If you would like to participate, please contact Jessica Irish for more information.

Additionally, adults are welcome to join us every Thursday evening at 8:30 PM for our weekly Choir Prayer Group. Please contact Jessica Irish to receive the Zoom link. We are always happy to welcome anyone in need of community during this time.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR (Directed by Drew Holcombe)

During this time when we are not able to meet in person, children in grades PreK through 6 have the opportunity to participate in various virtual choir offerings which are featured in our online worship services.  If you would like to receive information about the latest opportunity for your child, please contact Drew Holcombe.

We are able to safely ring in small in-person ensembles, masked, and at a safe physical distance.  During times when the church is open to the public, in-person rehearsals are possible, as well as ringing during limited in-person worship services.  Handbell offerings are also video-recorded and presented as part of online worship. To join a small handbell ensemble, please contact Rachel Elliff.

If you are an instrumentalist, there are opportunities to participate in virtual music projects, which are featured in our online worship services.  Contact Rachel Elliff for more information.

While in-person dance rehearsals and worship offerings are not possible during this time, there are opportunities for those who wish to participate virtually.  Please contact Pastor Pia Diggs if you are interested.
