We invite 5th and 6th graders and their adults to join us May 13, 14, & 15 for an unforgettable weekend to experience Wonderfully Made!
Wonderfully Made is a sexual education course for FAMILIES. The purpose is to promote open and honest dialogue about sexuality and puberty between kids and their adults. There is no political agenda. We are celebrating the amazing bodies God gave us, while acknowledging that sometimes talking about them can feel weird and whacky!
Parents will gain confidence. Families will grow closer. Kids will get the facts. Kids and parents will have an opportunity to ask all their questions (anonymously) in a safe environment. AND, your family will have FUN! I promise!
We will begin on Friday, May 13th with a joint session for parents and kids from 5:30-8:30. (We will serve a simple dinner and have childcare for younger siblings).
Saturday, May 14th from 9am-3:15pm will be a kids only session, and we will feed them breakfast and lunch.
Then, on Sunday, May 15th kids and parents will join together again from 1:30-4pm. (Childcare available for younger ones).
The sessions will be led by Melany Burrill from Dumbarton UMC, who is a long-time Christian Educator. These sessions will also be facilitated by small group leaders who have been trained for this event.
Participants must be available for the entirety of all the sessions. (By the very nature of what we are discussing, a kid that comes in late on Saturday is going to feel waaaaay more awkward than one might usually feel in that situation.)
It is helpful if the same parent is present for the Friday and Sunday sessions, though it is not mandatory. It is mandatory that each child have their own adult with them on Friday and Sunday. Better still if the more than one adult accompanies the child. We will have childcare for younger siblings on Friday and Sunday.
PLEASE share this with your friends. We have to cap attendance at 20 students, but we are eager to share this program with other churches and our surrounding community.
